be an accordian hottie!
i have often thought about learning this fun instrument! i think it would fit right in with all of the other things i love to do. besides, it would complete my ensemble of insanity.
how easy/hard is it to learn? would i be wise to take it on all by myself or look to seek the assistance of an experienced accordian player?

Re: i wanna
Thu, November 25, 2004 - 8:00 PMYou should check out "accordions world wide" (google search it) for a teacher if you can. The "palmer hughes" books are good on detail. and Mel Bay's "teach yourself accordion' is a good general book for adults.
Get an instrument you can try first , avoid e-bay.

Re: i wanna
Sun, December 12, 2004 - 7:07 AMThe accordion is not a user-friendly instrument! You'll have a head start if you already know how to play the piano a little bit. I think it does require lessons. You will advance more quickly with a good teacher. There are things you just can't figure out on your own... And don't buy an old used one at a yard sale or on eBay. They are usually just pieces of crap unless you're buying from a reputable dealer who has refurbished it and can provide proof/warranty. Try to get a good new one, but to do so you'll need some serious bucks. -

Sun, February 19, 2006 - 8:53 AMYou might want to rent a beginner's accordion with 12 buttons to start with, and then go to a 120 bass. -

Wed, February 22, 2006 - 12:12 PMI have a book for a instrument that hohner used to sell called the "Mingion". The configuration is identical to these "toy" chinese accordions that cost about $70. They don't sound bad either.
